Max Hastings has a well written history of the Vietnam war, worth your time if you're in the mood.

My main surprise was the history of the conflict, the brutality of the French run colonialism and the sheer level of corruption and poverty.

I can make it out but my music reading isnt as great as my playing ability, I transpose sheet music into tabs by the use of software.

I remember them helicoptering the last troops/civilians out of Hanoi(?) in ‘75, the Amerricans leaving Karbul was a reminder of that panic. Trumpf won’t have that problem when he taco’s because missiles don’t need evacuation

Same here I've usually forgot about it a week later

I was reading about the Cleveland balloon disaster a few days ago, I was telling a few people at work about it they'd never heard of it....I couldn't believe it happened...

Parked up in Bangkok harbour with B52’s taking off to bomb North Vietnam. Wave after wave of them. Of course America never used bases to bomb Laos although strangely there was a lot of munitions falling out of the sky somehow.

Friend of mine was conscripted and showed me his photo album with a bear dressed as a “Grunt” who they used to take into town for a few beers.

No Bugles No Drums was the first 'Nam' book I read as a young teen. I have read a few since. Great book. Part of it focussed on the popular pastime of 'fragging' an officer (lieutenant) whom you thought was an idiot and would likely get the platoon killed. In fact 'LT's' had a very short life expectancy at one point during the war.
