Thermal stores - WHO UNDERSTANDS SIZING?

I see there's been a few posts about this in the past... But, WTF! Every time I ask someone, or read something, I get conflicting advice...

What are the factors that determine best size of thermal store?

The inputs? ... in my case, a vented rayburn, an oil boiler and solar pv when we can afford it..

The property size?... Number of rads/BTU required.?

Space?

Budget?

Anyone got the truth?
