Hey guys,

So thinking about building a garden room - iw as planning on just making it from timber and insulation board on a concrete slab, however i have a bunch of themalite blocks leftover from our extension

As they are so light and will be holding the same load as if it was just made from timber - would i need to dig footing for a single skim of thermalite blocks - if so how deep would you recommend ?

Thanks guys

@^woody^ Why would it need to be as deep - if i was making it out of timber i would just make a solid concrete base
A single skim of thermalite isn't going to need the same as full extension is it?

Foundation depth has little to do with the loads of the building above, but more to do with the stability of the ground at the depth of the foundation bottom.

The alternative would a shallower raft
