Okay so I have been decorating inside my boiler cupboard, I thought I would be clever and replace the cable to the programmer for a cable with a black and grey rather than live and neutral colours everywhere. And to put all the wiring in trunking to tidy it all up. And now clever me decided to also move the thermostat further along the wall to centralise it, and now I can’t for the life of me remember where all the cables go. I don’t need a lecture about how stupid I am, as I already know that part, but my wife is going to hit the roof if she can’t have a bath this evening, please help me

Park the earth wire and put the black heating on to number 4 and see if that works. You look like you have a combi boiler so your wife should be able to bathe anyway

Thank you CountryFan it did work, I always forget the Combi is mains, first time having a combi to be honest, I will probably upgrade to a hive system soon as we are renovating our new home at the moment. Thanks again, very much appreciated

Something looks odd here to me

The wire in the central cable clamp at the boiler is the mains supply to the boiler, and the cable on the left goes to the RWB7 timeswitch. But I don't see another cable to the thermostat. So, unless there is another junction box that you don't show, as far as I can see the room thermostat isn't actually connected. If that is the case the thermostat won't be doing anything and the boiler will run continually whenever the timeswitch is on.

Your right I did miss the cable to the thermostat, but I managed to figure it all out, it turns off when I twist the thermostat off and comes on when I turn clockwise. Also the programmer if I turn it to on, turns the heating on if the thermostat is high enough.
