I am thinking of installing an electric boiler for central heating only. I have 10 rads at 1kw each. (Getting rid of old oil boiler). Has anyone got a ballpark idea on running costs and or advice?

Running costs in the UK would be very high. Do you not have gas?

Running costs depend on too many variables. But if you did a thorough heatloss calc on the building and looked at you needs you could get to some form of (scary) figure.

Scottish power tarrif 7.353p per kwh.
10 kwh boiler running at full with no allowance for temp modulation =
73.5p per hour.

Thats bloody cheap. Thought they were all around 16p/kwhr

that's plus Annual standing charge £51.13

For mine, they work it out at first 900kWh per year at 11.198p and 7.120 pence per kilowatt for the rest.
(no standing charge)

Mmmmm do you all think I should stick to oil?
