Suggest you relocate the filter to somewhere more accessible - they are intended to be replaced at least every 6 months.

Are they easy to change? It’s being delivered tomorrow (currently living with the water turned off most of the time). Now I know exactly where it is, it’ll be easy enough to get to in future.
