Thorn olympic 38/50b how to maintain pressure

hummm blondeness coming through again, oh well we all have our specalities! we only have one water tank in the loft, couldn't see any flexy hose coming out of that. just a ball thing that you get in toilet tanks.

Could you not call the plumber that came last time and ask him were the filling loop was, Most decent plumbers would show the customer were it is and how to use it, I do, If there is only one large tank in the loft it will be a filling loop you are looking for but they can be hard sometimes to find, i once found one behind a fridge in a cupboard

It's nice to know i wasn't just being stupid about how simple it was to sort out! :D Thank you for your help, will try and findout who it was we called out last time. Fingers crossed he'll be nice and just tell us what to do rather than charging us. Thank you again, worth the try.

I'd be very surprised if you had a sealed system. Somewhere you will have a red enamel vessel, round or cylindrical in shape. Alternatively you may have an open system which will be fed from a small tank in the loft. The previous problem may be that the cold feed was blocked which should now be O.k. Have you tried bleeding a radiator? Did you get water or air out? If you haven't tried, then I suggest you do and see what happens. You've nothing to lose; if it works it works, if it doesn't , you need help. If you don' try, you'll never fix.

I've got the above boiler, and when we bleed the radiators previously we had problems with the water pressure. So much so we had to call a plumber out!! It cost a fortune for a simple job, however we weren't show how to maintian the pressure, and the radiators need bleeding again! Am reluctant to do so if it means an expensive bill again!

Jo, do you mind if I ask how much the bill was?

A Thorn olympic 38/50b should be ov it's too old to be a pressurized system

steve32 is correct,
According to MI for this boiler, should only be fitted to open system, a ticking bomb waiting to happen. Rip it out and fit a new one ASAP
