thread types ? Table lamp holder

A friend has moved house. The lamp holder on a typical ceramic base with a short chrome pole has been broken.

Is there a standard thread for replacement lamp holders? (it's a BC if that matters)

Is there a standard thread for replacement lamp holders

1/2 inch is common.
So is 10mm
Then there is the evil 3/8 inch which looks like 10mm but isn't.

I will take the lamp away (I'd planned on taking it anyway) and disassemble to check the threads.
