I'm looking for a product which essentially would be a metal plug which can be inserted into timber and has an internal thread to allow reception of a flat-end screw or bolt (i.e. not a pointed timber screw).

I presume such a product exists, but if anyone happens to know what they're called so I can look for them.

Thanks.

There are T nuts, that normally can be fitted to the rear of the timber, doing a fastener up pulls the T nut into the wood. ( you can use a vice/ hammer or a screw to pull the nut in)

There are also coarse inserts, they have an external thread, and an inner, along with an Allen key hole (sometimes a screwdriver slot) You drill a hole, then use the key or screwdriver to thread into the timber. Then use the bolts
