IF YOU CHANGE A CON UNIT AND THE CABLES IN THE OLD ONE ARE SHORT IS IT OK TO THRU CRIMP TO EXTEND THANKS

Yes but use heat shrink to cover them after.

2) Yes. You can get crimps with heat-shrink sleeving attached which is better.

3) you will have to attach the mixed colours warning label.

don't forget to do a small pull test once you crimped just to check the mechanical integrity of the join too
 
I dont see any point in sleeving them - they are already insulated, and are fine as they are.
 
I think there is a regulation about having unsheathed cables outside of conduit or enclosures, so pehaps heatshrink is a good idea.

Another option is self-amalgamating tape (if thats how you spell it)
 
I took the OP to mean the cables are into the CU but will not reach the apropriate terminals.

This is quite common when replacing wylex fuse boxes with S/L CUs
 
For some reason the mention of heatshrink got me thinking the extension was outside a box. The capslock issue led me astray :D
