Hi,
I've not lived in my property long so I don't know all the work that has been done except since I've been here.
We have a new bathroom suite fitted and the toilet that is in there makes a slight noise when it's finished filling, you can hear when it's getting close to finishing, it's almost as if its got a soft close valve if such a thing exists.

There was an extension built 12 years ago and there is a Toilet and shower in there, when that toilet fills it makes quite a thump, it has got an isolation valve on it, so I could try reducing the pressure, or do I need a new ball valve?
I did think about a Water shock preventer such as

but not cheap.

Thanks in advance for advise,

Steve

Thanks but it looks like that is a USA thing, I found it on Amazon, 1 review that said wrong size thread. Is there a UK version?

Thanks

Thanks! £14.95 on Amazon

One of the reviews says
'I carefully compared all products offered and after due consideration of specifications and price selected this item.
I'm no plumber but the instructions were clear and I had no problem fitting it. It stopped a water hammer problem I had from the first flush and it is quiet when filling. I recommend this product highly to all.'

So sounds like it does the job.
I did reduce the pressure using the valve and that has made it a lot quieter, we don't use the toilet in the Extension that much, so might see how it goes with the lower pressure.

Thanks

Steve

If you are encountering problems with high water pressures, you could consider fitting a pressure reducing valve on the rising main.

The Toilet in the extension is the worst, the new one in the bathroom isn't bad at all, bit more of a fart when it stops rather than thump, we have dishwasher and Washing Machine and they don't cause thump. I don't really want to reduce the Main water pressure, we don't have a water tank, so the shower in the extension is mains pressure and would like to keep good pressure.

Thanks

Steve
