I did exactly that last year. STS accepts Ronseal Anywhere paint on a gloss roller really nicely and it saved me the cost (and mess) associated with getting the plasterers in. Sorry plasterers, but you are a messy lot. LolI'm looking to attach wedi boards to a brick wall. Is it ok to use beads of OB1 or similar on the back and then go through with brown rawl plugs?-- or is it better to use a proper tile adhesive on the back?

i have jackoboard 10mm. could this work there? not dot and dabOb1 is not hard. Tile adhesive is.
Use tile adhesive and get it plumb. When set drill through and screw.

Went with this and it worked great, thanks!Ob1 is not hard. Tile adhesive is.

I had to use 6mm but spoke to a tiler and they said it would be ok -- the narrow size of the space was a constraint. I'd been worried that the thickness of the adhesive would built it out too much for the tray to fit, but it ended up working out ok. Anything thicker and I'd have had to bring backer board down to the tray surface instead and couldn't have used a classi seal flexi upstand, which I was a bit worried abouti have jackoboard 10mm. could this work there? not dot and dab

Good morning! I was thinking noone would be on and worried that I wouldn't get tile on today. I h'm installing to a bath with a tile line (will be replacing near future. I have space and money constraint as well and jacko says board should be 20mm for this kind of process. So that's good to hear. What length were your screws then?I had to use 6mm but spoke to a tiler and they said it would be ok -- the narrow size of the space was a constraint. Sorry, didn't see this just now so it's probably too late -- I was advised to have the screws go at least 50mm into the wall, so I went with 70mm to be sure.Good morning! Not too late at all! Still demoing the wall! Jackoboard head of specs finally got back to me and of course they stuck with what they posted online. 70mm makes sense especially as you were using a thinner board.Sorry, didn't see this just now so it's probably too late -- I was advised to have the screws go at least 50mm into the wall, so I went with 70mm to be sure.

Yes that's exactly it -- there are general guidelines for wedi here: https://justwedi.co.uk/pdf/AE.Building Board Installation Guide.pdf -- but it may be different for Jacko. Here it says that the screw should go to a minimum of 35mm, but I was advised 50mm elsewhere and went for that, just for security. Not too late at all! Still demoing the wall! to confirm : you used a Tile adhesive layer to fix 6mm board with 70mm screws onto brick walls?
Thanks again

yup i did that. My drill bits weren't very long so it was a struggle. the 60mm fixings i got were terrible (kingfisher hammer fixings which are partially screws) and I've partially destroyed my board.as the nails bent and got stuck. I still have a drill bit stuck tooYes that's exactly it -- there are general guidelines for wedi here: https://justwedi.co.uk/pdf/AE.Building Board Installation Guide.pdf -- but it may be different for Jacko.
