Tile grout

I've been using No Nonsense brand from SF and had to try three times to get the tiles stuck to the wall which is painted with Dulux bathroom emulsion.

The grout stuck to the wall but not the tiles until I made the grout rather watery so basically, a rather soggy grout before I got the tiles fixed.

The tiles are Good Home brand ceramic Metro from BQ.

Is there a better grout I can experiment with?

Why are you using grout to stick tiles to a wall?

As above, you need tile adhesive to stick the tiles to the wall, not grout.

Additionally, you need to remove as much of the paint as possible. The adhesive will end up sticking to the paint rather than the plaster. Might not be a problem if the tiles are very light though.

As daft as it sounds, I hadn't realised there is two separate products so I'm pleased I posted. Thanks!

I have an even bigger tiling job to do so that should go well with the right product.

By the way can an adhesive be used as a grout?

If we are talking about the powder based products- normally no.

The DIY sheds sell tubs of premixed grout/adhesive. It is horrible stuff. It is crap as an adhesive and equally awful as grout. The product contains no cement and cures via evaporation. As a grout, it is virtually impossible to get a decent finish.

Look for products from the likes of BAL or Mapei.

Probably OK, avoid anything ready mixed but as mentioned you shouldn't stick tiles to a painted wall.

If you do remove the paint, prime it with dilute SBR to seal it.
