is it recommended to tile over existing tiles in a bathroom?i would prefer to do this as it will save loads of hassle removing old ones

it sounds as though your only tiling over tiles that only go halfway around the room, well thats what my crystal ball is telling me. if this is the case you could finish it off with a dado rail.
