My kitchen has some tiles at one end, they are flat but have a slightly rough feel to them and are a bit off white. Where I regularly clean around the cooker they have become more white and smoother than the other tiles as though there was some kind of coating on them (not paint, I imagine some kind of translucent "stuff") originally but I dont know what this might be, if it was put on after they were fitted or if it was part of the original tile.
I have just taken down the wall units and there are a couple of tiles that went behind the units - I can see the bits behind are totally white with a matt finish, and the bit underneath looks like it has been painted with something - any idea what this might be? It looks a bit more distressed than the pure white tiles, is there something I can get that will give the same effect? I am sure it isnt just dirty tiles I am seeing
