Tiling around a mirror

I'm about to tile a wall which is having a mirror on it.

Is the normal method to fix the mirror first, then tile around?

Or tile first then fit the mirror on top of the tiles?

If it makes any difference it is a mirror that matches the vanity unit and has a shelf built in etc.

Also it is going on a wall between the window and the corner - it will only have 4cm on either side of it.

I'm thinking that tiling around it will be better but wanted to check first.

It would be normal to tile and then fix other things.

Fit mirrror first, use timber batten top and bottom until secure, then tile around.

Thanks - that is what I was thinking.

I also have a border tile going around which is uneven so that would have made it hard to mount the mirror in front of the tiles.

Needs to be polished edge mirror with suitable backing for bathroom use [or mirror will delaminate at rear.]
