My battening is coming along. Gonna be nipping out to some reclaim yards this week. Looking for “dirty red” clay plain tiles, arris hips, valleys and ridges. Not to worried about getting a good match for the plain tiles, but getting the eaves tiles and tile and a half’s along with the ridges, hips and valleys all matching might be tricky.
I have verges, hips and valleys. Where do I start?
Start at verge so I have a nice alternating full time/tile+half? Then make cuts where it meets valley- never cut less than half a full tile?
Same for starting at a wall. Start there with full tiles/tile+half then cut tiles when it meets hip or valley?
I also have one side with a hip one end and a valley on the other. Where to start there? Middle? One end?
Am I correct in that you never use less than half a full tile? Or bigger?
If the reclaim yard doesn’t know, how do I tell I’m getting the right arris hips? Been told they tend to come in 40 and 45 degrees. My roof is 40.
Help appreciated
