Hi,

We have a recessed window in the bathroom which has a trickle vent at the top of the recess ( please see attached photo). We will be fitting a tile backer board to the underside of the lintel ( top of recessed window). This then means that when the tiles are fixed they would cover the trickle vent.

Anyone any ideas what we should do here?

Yes, but whatever the substrate plasterboard or else, the issue is tiles will cover the tricklevent, what is usual way to deal with this issue

OP,
is it your intention to replace the green p/board with BB? or fix BB over the green p/board?

If you removed the recently fixed green p/board, and were left with a half decent window head surface then you could tile directly up to the head?
Even a rough surface can be made presentable by combing the surface & buttering the tile with adhesive.

Fwiw: once satisfied i would then mitre and set my edge beads before any tiling.
