tiling mesh sheet of tiles on plastic pond

As the title says, been thinking about making a little kids play pool more exciting and turning it into a water feature/pond by tiling some tiles on one of those mesh sheets to the rigid surface of the pond. Can anyone tell me if this will work and if so what sort of adhesive I should use?
