Is it ok to apply travertine wall tiles directly onto mdf sheet timber? The reason for this is because i need to bring the tiles off the wall 10mm as the splash back is 20mm thick and the tiles that i am using are only 10mm so i need to make up that extra 10mm if that makes sense?
Thanks

Best to use something that will not move with the moisture in the room, 9.5mm plasterboard will be easier and cheaper or you could get a suitable thickness of Wedi board if its in a wet area(shower).
