Hello,
We are hoping to tile our covered but external porch floor. It sometimes gets wet when it rains if the rain blows sidewards so could technically get snow fall (although it never snows here!).
We were told we could use ordinary ceramic tiles with an external edging strip for where the tiles end at a step down (this is clean brick so does not need to be tiled). Is this true? - ceramic would be our preferred option. If so what adhesive/grout should we use and what should the edge strip be made of to avoid getting scratched?

Thanks

Gemma

Can you post a pic of the step to give a better idea of what you mean?
A powdered floor adhesive will generally be fine, explain at your local tile store what you want it for and they should be able to point youin the right direction.

I wish you gave us a photo so that we can clearly understand what you are referring to. However, you should be able to identify the right adhesive since there are many options available commercially.
