Hi I'm about to have tiles done and I'm going to be tiling over old tiles, now there are a few of the old tiles missing some little bits and some spanning to 300mm long, the tiler said that I should fill these old missing bits with self levelling compound, as its a small amount I was seeing if there was any thing else to use instead of self levelling? The old tiles are on plywood/concrete.

Thanks :)

Id use a decoupling membrane over the top as for filling then yep use laytex
or you could uuse slc over the top and fill holes with the tile addy

Thanks, the job has been done now, I just used tile adhesive to fill the holes, has worked fine. :D

what did you wen up using to bond the new tiles to old?
and what tile addy did you use?
just asking because we all have our own ways of doing things.
iv used a SBR and OPC slurry coat let it dry then sett over the top
And you can buy WEBER tile addy thats is made for tiling over tiles

Not sure as I got someone in to do the work, I was just questioning what to fill the holes with.

Was just as easy doing it with adhesive. More simples.

not really, the deeper the addy the longer the setting time, patch in with bits of old tile, addy goes off quicker, get on with the job, even more simpler ;)

Even so the job is complete and it's looking good.
