Hi I'm about to have tiles done and I'm going to be tiling over old tiles, now there are a few of the old tiles missing some little bits and some spanning to 300mm long, the tiler said that I should fill these old missing bits with self levelling compound, as its a small amount I was seeing if there was any thing else to use instead of self levelling? The old tiles are on plywood/concrete.

Thanks :)

He's not much of a tiler advising that.

Not removing old tiles, no need too. Was seeing is there something else to use apart from self levelling.

FWIW:

the join at the wood and concrete might be a weak link, unless its already been treated as a crack or a movement joint.
