Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas on the best way to tile on to a wall of WBP (marine) plywood? presumably I should be using some form of PVA coating first?

Any help welcomed!

Thanks,

Rob

What does it say on the adhesive packaging for tiling onto wood/ply? If it recommends their own primer, use it. If it recommends PVA use it. If it doesn't mention anything and you're NOT tiling a shower area, give it a coat of PVA mixed 5:1. If it IS a shower area, tank the area (and a couple of feet past) that would get wet.
I hope the ply is at least 12mm thick and well supported or your grout will crack.

Thanks for the info..

FYI: yes it's 12.5mm ply and well supported so I can't imagine there will be any issues. It is for the back of a shower wall though I wondered if there are any good tanking (paints?) that I should be using or can I just wander to the local DIY shop and pluck something from a shelf?

BTW: An old friend recommended I used marine ply but just wondering what would have been more appropriate now?

Thanks,

Rob
