Hi. A very simple question for all you Pro Tilers out there. At what stage in the tiling process would you normally remove the protective wax/chalk type material that comes on some wall tiles? Also, I'd be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's done a City & Guilds tiling course with regards to what is taught about this!

Many thanks!

You can remove the wax when ever you like, I tend to clear it off before tiling as it can sometimes play tricks with the level.

C&G tiling course, this would depend what level you are aiming at:
But basically will cover, health and safety, communication skills, measuring and costing of materials, preparing wall and floor types, accessing subsurfaces, setting out, tile plan/designs, type of tiles to work with, tools of the trade, applying tiles to different surfaces and areas, selection of materials such as primers, adhesives and grout.
Then there would be the fixing of the tile, grouting and polishing up and sealing when required.
The techniques depending on level, will become more advanced an an NVQ qual, will require onsite evidence of work and write ups of what you did.
