Tiling split face tiles onto plasterboard

Hi guys hope you all had a great Christmas....?!

The diy'ing continues and Im preparing to tile some split face tiles onto a tv wall unit made of plasterboard. Would it be ok to put some pva or sbr onto the plasterboard then tile onto that? Or will they end up on the floor?
