Whats wrong with watering in two hits and saving your money?
Its better to give it a good soak less often than a little and often,the latter does not encourage the roots to go down to seek moisture.
To help out if you leave some parallel sided pans outside you can measure any rainfall and so judge how much watering to do . If you place them on the grass in various places while watering you can measure and see how evenly the spread is but remove them again a few hours later so the grass under them does not yellow

thanks, I can do in two hits now but the other one is more for the time when I am on holiday so that it can run on timer
