Tilt and glide door won't open.

I have a big, heavy tilt and glide patio door which I opened and closed yesterday. Today, I just can't open it - turned the handle to horizontal, there's a little bit of play on the handle side at the top of the door but the majority of the top of the door is solid. Any idea as to what's happened? Thanks.

UPDATE. It's a new day and with a little bit of force the door's now working properly. Perhaps the unusual heat we've had caused something to expand...

If it's uPVC there is no perhaps about it.
