Hi guys

Ive always struggled getting skirting to fit right on external corner joins. Is there a technique Im missing as walls are always out so when Im mitring the two lengths I always seem to get that slight split. Yes I can chaulk it but surely there's a better easier way to get the two to marry up properly?

Thanks

One thing that often happens is if you use a circular saw of any type set to cut a bevel, and the blade is a little blunt, it will have a tendency to distort and "ride up" if you go too quickly, upsetting the angle. A sharp blade and a steady cut is needed for accuracy. Also, once you have fitted the first piece, check how perpendicular it is with a square against the floor. If it leans in/out 2-3mm, you need to tweak the other piece to fit which might mean making your cut a smidgen off 90.

If the walls are not at 90°, then don't cut the mitres at 45°.

And be clear as to which side of your line is the cut side.
