Should an engineered Oak floor be layed before a kitchen is fitted or after?
I am worried about the finished height of the floor, and if fitted appliances will be removable if i fit the floor after, but I have also read you should not fit units on to a floating floor?

Any Help please? :?:

We would install after the kitchen units are placed and use plywood to lay underneath appliances so they can be removed later without having to lift them up and over the edge of the wooden floor.

Thanks for that I have read so many conflicting views on this subject, but i think with a floating floor which is what i will be laying, you are right, lay it after.

Is there a standard cabinet height you should use as a finish line above finished floor height ? so to the bottom of the work surface?

What you have to keep in mind is your own height (or at least the height of the person doing most of the work in the kitchen).
If the work surface ends up too low for this person, back ache is possible due to not standing erect enough.

It's like with computer chairs, everyone has its own preferred height settings.
