Hi,

I'm jmust after a bit of advice please.

I've just bought a 1930's 3 bed semi which needs some updating. THe consumer unit is an old style one with fuse wire so I know i'll probably need to replace that. A lot of the plug sockets in the house are on the skirting boards which I know isn't upto current standards, they also don't have switches on them. Is the house likely to need a full rewire, or can these sockets be replaced and moved further up the wall if needed?

If I do need a re-wire, can anyone give me an idea of rough costs (how long is a piece of string i guess) for the west yorkshire area.

Thanks

Rob

from the sounds of it you will be needing some attention.

For the cost of replacing the sockets/backboxes you may as well have new fitted, the chasing etc is going to be needed anyway.

personally, if having a re-wire anyway, have more sockets put in, where you need them, ie 3 doubles for A/V rather than skimping and using 4 way extensions.
