Today we had a generator instead of the grid serving us

I don't need to - the very handy gadget I bought some years ago, records the max, min, displays the current temperature, and alarms at a preset high, or low temperature.
I have similar, and they have on a couple of occasions brought to my attention the death of a freezer without any interruption of the power supply to it.

So that was presumably not one of the things eric had said which you said was a "Good point".? I guess that leaves the inverter motor (which, as I said, at least theoretically is not dependent upon it being an auto-defrost freezer) or the 'shelf issue' as what you regarded as "Good points"?
