Hi,

I noticed yesterday that our toilet's ball valve never completely switches off. It drips into the cistern, until the water level eventually hits the external overflow.

It's one of these:

There's a fair bit of limescale and crud around the valve, so I was thinking of just replacing it.

Then I saw this, an alternative design:

From people's experience, are these a better design? Not having an arm and ball certainly sounds better to me.

Or is there another more durable option?

Many thanks!

Turn off the water to the ball valve, remove the large knurled nut, inside there is a diaphragm washer, replace it with a new one for about £.50 and jobs done, easy to repair old style, not so easy to repair fluid master. Buy a new washer first.

Fluidmaster gear is up there with the best, but with this one there sometimes isn't the space to get it physically in......if this is likely, the Torbeck side entry is a good alternative.
