I don't want to use a router, so i'm looking at getting a plane to make some T&G's.

Am I after a combination plough plane/multi-plane/or what?
A scan on ebay throws up some Record 50's and 405's.
But would a 40/43/44 be suitable (I already have a 40 :) )

Thanks
Nathan

[EDIT: Record not Stanley]

A stanley 50 should have a cutter for the tongue ,if it a full set .
Astanley 48 is a plane designed for cutting tongue and groves :)

[I ment Record.. Doh!]

Can't seem to find any reference to a Stanley or a Record 48 though (on the internet). Could you have got your numbers muddled?

As i understand, a combination plane should be suitable, with the correct shaped blades?
I hope so 'cos i'm ebaying one at the mo. :)

Try googling stanley planes 3rd one down , :)

I use to have a stanley 50 with a cutter for the tongue, but I am not sure weither it came as a standard cutter with the stanley50
