took some plaster and render off

Hi,

I'm re-tiling the bathroom and removed the existing tiles only to removed patches of plaster and render behind it.

It would need smoothing before i can tile, i was just after some advice really.

Can i just screw in some plaster boards and then tile on top of that?
Or would i need to get it re-plastered?

patch up the deeper recesses with thistle bonding then skim the lot. it will make re-tiling a lot less difficult.
