Hello,

First post so please excuse me if I'm in the wrong section. Quite an easy question I think, but I dont know the answer. Is there a tool which when held near a wire will let me know if power is flowing through it. I am unable to access either end of the cable so a multimeter is out of the question and I also would prefer not to cut the power then cut the cable and test it. Is there anything that can help me here?

Thanks in advance.

Jeez, we're sharp on here! Barely left the site and there is two replies already! Thanks alot guys, this is just the sort of thing I was looking for - thanks for the links, seems like a great thing to keep in the tool box,

Thanks again.

do bear in mind "testers" like this are not to be relied upon. for amusement value rub one up and down your arm while wearing a jumper
