Torbeck siphon

Sorry to not make myself clear.The siphon supplied with the toilet is a dual flush with a push mechanism housed in the cistern lid.I bought a better siphon but the instructions show the mechanism is housed in the main cistern body where the handle would go on a traditional system.Can I fit this to the hole in the lid or does it have to go in the hole in the main cistern(a hole I do not have)?
