Track/Plunge saw

Good piece of kit but pricey for the better ones.

Quite often, the same can be achieved with other tools and a good set of guides.

Did a bit of research a while back but decided against one.

It all comes down to the question "Do I really need one?"

Just IMHO though.

Hi Belboz
I have a couple miles of MDF book shelves to build so that should justify the expense I am also hoping to get better dust extraction.
I have been looking at Festool T55 and Makita

Funnily enough they were the 2 I was looking at.

The Makita appears to be on offer at the moment in a few places.

The Makita has the scroll cut setting and £329 all in
The festool has riving knife and chip breaker on the off cut side

Bought the dewalt plunge saw & a couple of guide rails about 18 months ago - and now wonder how I ever managed without it!

track saw 100% worth the money
say you want 6 identical cuts off 293 you draw a pencil mark on your tape at 293
you draw 2 marks you lay the track on the marks and cut
no clamps just cut about 20 secs a cut all very accurate
total time 5 mins instead off 20 mins with any other method
also you can very easilly remove 0.5 to 5mm in seconds when other means would struggle
you can also undercut doors in situ down to 11mm with the dewalt [18v in my case]
