Trading Tips

No get rich quick schemes then in trading?
That's why the old adage works. But you're looking at at least a couple of years for some gain.
When you are in with some stocks, for the long haul, it's always wise to add to them when the price is below your average cost price. It lowers your average buying price giving room for improved gains.

Choose your trading account carefully for tax implications.

If I add up the number of minutes I have spent in the last 30 years from my investments dealing with burst pipes, leaking roofs, condensation, grasping agents and unpaid rent, it totals....

Zero.

The same as the amount I have spent on maintenance and modernisation.
Property out performs shares. But you know that

You just need one global stock with
over 3000 companies in. That's it...
I use trading 212.
Stocks and shares ISA.
Open account.
Use a promotion code where you get a minimum of £20 random stock free. I got Lloyds UK...
Buy a global ETF. I recommend Invesco FTSE All World UCITS ETF Acc. Must be the ACC (dividend reinvest) not the DIV
(Dividend payed to you)
Put in what you can afford every month for next 10+ years. Anything from £1 to £1000
Now investing.
I have a small punt on individual stocks but you must be an active investor. This is more complicated and risky but you need to understand what you are doing.
I can post a video walking you through step by step that got me going.
Wish I done it years ago
I have been looking into this and thought that perhaps trading was only for the rich and famous, I have heard that it can be learnt and anyone can do it with the right training. I thought I might dabble with a small amount but it looks like my initial hunch was correct.

I’m using a SIPP soon. I’ve got some extra income coming so will put it in there.

Trump tariffs - I doubled my money in a month. NVDIA
Trump war - I nervously bought in the downs and am up 6% this week.
waiting for the next trump fart

FWRG / VWRP etc - great in an ISA but a bit cumbersome in a general investment account (GIA) due to the ERI, particularly if you are going to drip in.
VWRL is easier to manage (same strategy) but dividends are easy to track.

google FWRG and VWRP. FWRG is slightly cheaper, but less diversified.

how much can you spare now? how much can you spare each month?

It is more of a case of how much would I dare risk without Lena screaming at me, I was thinking a few hundred a month and a 5k ish stake.

Depends on your definitions of "rich", and of "quick".
I moved to Spain to live a few years ago and we had a saying that was very true, in order to make a small fortune in Spain you need to take a big one with you. It is looking like the same thing with this trading, I dont know enough about it to risk any serious money. I am asset rich but cash poor.

my ex wife was amazingly good at telling me what stocks I should have bought.

but seriously, you need some sort of pension/investment etc otherwise you'll be like the poor builder on here still digging holes at 60.

5k in then a few 100 a month, dripped into a S&S ISA. You are probably going to be up 8-10% this time next year.

buy either FWRG or VWRP. but not both.

maybe sell Lena's shoe collection to fund it? she wont mind.
