Trading Tips

Stats.
The last 100 years a global fund has returned 9% per year averaged out.
When people say I would not buy a global fund, where the hell do they think pensions are?
There was a period of 20 years after the great depression where stocks were slow to get back to where they were.
Great time to buy though. Long wait for some..

As for losses.
Tadpole tech went bust and I lost £1000 around 2008.
That's my only realised loss but those were the tech years. Was a stuiped Idea and a learning experience.
I only dabble in single stocks for interest.
Most people shouldn't though.
Smart investor should pile in a global fund and never look at it until they want to cash in.
We are one of the worst countries in the world for investing and backing our own companies. Its damaging our economy and our standard of living.
That needs to change.
I'm a believer in educated decisions.
People need to take an interest and decide what's best for them but they don't, or do they? Maybe times are changing..
Great discussion.
Get a stocks and shares ISA.
Buy £1 in a global fund.
Let's get the investing up and going

How do you learn about this stuff, it all seems quite complicated and full of jargon that only relates to trading?

Did you not understand what he said you should do?

Open a stocks and shares isa.
Deposit some money
Buy either of the all world trackers listed in this thread.
That’s it.

You may have a small buying window tomorrow as Trump has been mucking about again.

Or leave the money to rot in your bank account

You make it sound so simple, the reality is for someone like me a total nubee to all of this, even down to opening an ISA is quite daunting.

Deposit your money.

Then when you are ready. Buy. Either. FWRG or VWRP. It doesn’t matter which one.

You will initially lose some money due to the spread. Over the next few months and years it will grow.

@Highway Man
It's easy.
Takes about 15 mins with a few hoops to jump through.

Get trading 212.
You will get asked some questions. It's all easy enough. Yeah yeah get on with it...
You will need national insurance number.
You will need to sign form about dividend tax from American shares.
We have an agreement not to pay the American tax as we are UK. It's simple enough. You just agree .
Transfer say £10 to trading 212
Buy a global ETF.
We can help if you get stuck.

It's all in the video link I posted.
Just take your time.
Start small. See how you feel about it.

Thanks for this info, I am going to take some time to study the link you have posted and digest it all.
