Transformers failing

Sponsored Links
I installed 22x 60 va toroidal transformers in a basement flat in 1989, had to replace one last weekend
That recently, I fitted one in 1972 and it is still in service, never been switched off.
If well designed/manufactured, and if used within their ratings and in sensible environmental conditions, there's really no reason why a wire-wound transformer cannot last 'for ever'.

I have several power supplies, still working fine, which I build in the 60s using 'war surplus' transformers (of which there was then a plethora!) - hence now presumably at least 70 years old.

Kind Regards, John
