I'm trying to find a medium dark trellis treatment that is more like a stain than a paint. All the ones I could see in the store (Cuprinol and others) seemed to be partially paint-like rather than a pure stain. I'm would be quite happy with some of the fading that the products I've found want to avoid.

What should I be looking for?

Many thanks.

I use Cuprinol shed and fence preserver, it is a stain and the wood soaks it up, it is available in various colours and I am sure there will be one for you , Available from the major diy stores in 1 gallon cans so a second mortgage may be required...

get them from a builders merchant theyll be cheaper. and where gloves and a mask as they smell horrible and it gets down your throat
