Please please please help . We have had an ongoing situation with our heating for a while now and different solutions are now making any difference . I’ll try to explain as best I can .
We load our trianco boiler with anthrosite every night . The problem we have is that we have to leave the heating on constant , this is because every time we put it on timer and the central heating goes off for a while the water in the tank gets roasting hot and bubbles and bangs fairly loud to the point where it starts piling out the overflow pipe . We’ve put new seals on the doors to the boiler ( no difference ) . We’ve had a new towel rail fitted to act as an extra heat source which I’m told is the first in line ( no difference ) .
We really are at our wits end as not only costing us plenty in coal/anthrosite , the house is getting far too warm . Don’t know what else to do now . Please someone help

Presumably there's some sort of mechanism for controlling the air supply into the combustion chamber? Or is there mechanical feed of anthracite into the chamber?
By the way, the towel rail is a heat sink or heat dump, not a heat source.

Is the draught stabiliser moving freely.
What is the idle setting on the fan throat.

Hi and ty for the replies . Our trianco is mechanically fed via a hopper at the top through a drop down door . I’m afraid because I’m not very plumbing orientated that not certain what the draught stabiliser is or where it’s located but if it’s the dial that’s on the front then we have that turned down very low . We have been told that we may have to have an extra radiator installed ( but why )

That knob will be connected to the draught controlling devices, by what means (direct or via motors) i know not. You either need to find some service manuals and check it out yourself or find a local solid fuel heating engineer. The boiler, when on tickover, should not be boiling the hot water cylinder (my solid fuel stove, on tickover, keeps the kitchen warm and maintains tank temperature).
Make (we know) and model of your boiler would be helpful....

It’s a trianco TRG80 .

Lift the White cover above the hopper, Its on spring fasteners, to find the draught stabiliser. The bit you remove to clean the flueways.
Then take a photo.

Does the stainless steel plate pivot freely?
It looks like it has been sealed.

It’s not been sealed . It does pivot yes by hand but I wouldn’t call it freely . Is that important then

Yes very important. It should move freely.
If it is stuck in the closed position, a gusting wind will cause air to be drawn through the fan and firebed causing overheating.
Has anyone touched the fan ??

Wow didn’t realise and wasn’t told that . How can I free it up . Would it be stupid to try wedge it open and see if it makes a difference . When you say touched the fan sorry I’m not much help but don’t understand . We just have a switch on the wall the turns it on or off but that’s all

Carefully scrape any deposits around the edge or pins a spray of WD40 helps, BUT MAKE SURE TO COVER THE HOLE WITH SOMETHING, or it may ignite the vapor.
Don't wedge open it is called a stabilser for a reason. lol

Has the boiler ever had a service?

I’ve done all of that and the door moves much more freely now . Being a thicko I still don’t understand how it would make much difference . Sorry for sounding so negative but it has been going on for so long now . What’s that reset button for in the picture .
