Triton Shower & Mains Supply

Hi,

In Jan this year I replaced an old Triton power shower (in house before we moved in) with a new Triton power shower (like for like). However, the new shower has developed the same leak after only 6 months.

When the Triton engineer visited he stated that the shower has been fitted on a mains supply and hence is void of warranty and hence a £60 call out! Ouch!

So basically he has given me two options, get a new electric shower which can run off mains water but needs dedicated electric circuit or get a dedicated water supply from cold water tank in loft. Both of these will be very costly as house has just been decorated and is three levels

Currently I have a pressure reducing valve when the water enters the house set at 3bar max. As a short term solution would reducing the pressure of this valve to 1 bar work? Or would fitting another valve before the shower help?

why can't you just feed the shower from the tank in the loft as told.
if the bathroom is below the loft not a problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. The problem is that the shower room is on the ground floor in the opposite side of the house to the tank. Therefore considerable pipe work

This is why my question is will a pressure reducing valve have the same effect as changing to a gravity fed system and if so can I alter the current pressure valve set at 3 bar or should I install a separate valve just for the shower?

what model shower is it ?

Its just a Triton Thermostatic Power Shower (no model number on Screw Fix or Manual).

It states in the installation instructions that cannot be fitted to water supply that is directly connected to mains. So therefore I was wondering if a pressure reducing valve would do the job or if I need to bite the bullet and get a gravity fed system put in.

it wont help.

i'm surprised it lasted 6 mths.

i've come across this before. the way i got around it then was to fit two linked f/e tanks with lp ball valve insert at high level in a cupboard that happened to be behind the shower. not ideal but it worked.

i have seen a pressure reducing valve working in a similar situation as yours.
