Triton shower suddenly stopped working

Hi, I hope someone can help
I have a triton enrich shower unit which was working fine then suddenly stopped the next day...

I have checked the fuse board which is all okay

There is power to the pull cord

The light on the shower unit itself is on when the switch is set to off. The light turns off when it is turned to high, econ or cold

The water supply to the shower unit is coming through fine

I had a look online and a lot of people suggested it may be a solenoid issue. I replaced the solenoid which didnt fix the problem

I spoke to someone from showerdoctor who suggested it may be the solenoid valve so I have replaced that as well, still it doesn't work

I have also noticed The shower isn't making the humming sound it did when it was working before, though I'm not sure if that is relevant

I'm now at a bit of a loss as to what to do

Just buy a new shower, they are cheap as chips.

If you replaced the solenoid (looks like the original in photo) then have you checked for correct voltage? Does the light on the pull cord go out when you select the shower to on? Failing that you could replace the unit, as Andy says they’re cheap enough.

The photo is before I changed it, the power cord light does go off when I turn the shower to the on position

That suggests ther may be a high resistance ( ie failed ) connection in either the Live or Neutral wires somewhere between the Consumer Unit and the shower. Most common place for this to happen is in the pull cord isolator where a terminal has become loose due to vibration caused by the isolator being operated..

How are you testing for power ?

I haven't tested it as such, I just assumed as the light was on the shower cord and the shower unit that it must be getting power (electrics is really not my forte)
Are you suggesting the wires may be loose in the pull cord causing it to shut off when the shower is switched on?

Check the Neutral wire in the pull switch

A damaged connection ( Live or Neutral ) will allow only enough current to pass through it to illuminate a small lamp but will not allow enough current to operate the shower.

The shower being low resistance compared to the lamp takes all the trickle of current, this drops the voltage at the shower to almost nothing and thus the lamp goes out.

If you feel competent and safe to do so measure the voltage between Live and Neutral at the terminal block in the shower. (1) with the shower turned OFF and (2) with the shower turned OFF ( using a two probe volt meter )

If there is 230 volts when (1) and almost zero when (2) then it is a damaged connection.
