Trouble with an icos ideal boiler,

So I moved into my house around two years ago, my old house had an 80's glowworm 2 boiler that provided plenty of heat with no trouble, it was old an inefficient but it worked. When I moved into my new house I was pleased to see an A rated icos Ideal boiler, great I thought, cheaper gas bills. Unfortunatly my experience with my ideal boiler had been far from *ahem* ideal. Last year it needed a new PCB board, I've replaced the igniter and the flame sensor (I also had to replace the cable to the flame sensor) and had to clean the trap residue trap out on numerous occasions, it's now come to the point that I don't know what the next step is, my current symptoms are a loud repeated booming noise on start up if the boiler, I've recorded it (& placed on YouTube) here
I've cleaned the trap again and rinsed it through, I've put a touch of sealant on the trap opening and on the 's' trap underneath (to ensure no tramp air was getting in) I've checked the ignition probe (all good) and the flame probe (well it's still there and I replaced it several months ago) the fan starts up and runs, so what can I check next?

Thank you
Luke

Aqua, you are too fast for me

OP, suggest a proper service by someone who know your boiler. Or keep throwing parts at the boiler. What you have done, is hard to imagine. Have a few Icos, Isar boiler clients. Booker gets serviced regularly, runs like a Swiss watch:love:

It's a wind up.

Why do you think that? I've changed the easily accessible and easily changed parts, the PCB unplugs, the ignition probe and the flame detector are only a couple of bolts each and the s trap is a further two screws, non of it is hard to dismantle or replace, if someone had of had similar symptoms, and said 'the fan had broke' that's what I would be looking for, and I'd have no qualms about changing the fan. From what I've read about these boilers they aren't the most robust items, and due to the running repairs I've done - replacing bent igniters, replacing damaged loom, replacing U/S PCB boards and washing out the crud tray, I feel that I know mine in fairly intimate terms now! I'm no boiler expert (hence me asking here) but if anyone had any pointers of obvious things before I call a boiler man out I would appreciate it,

And thanks everyone that posted, yeah I get the feeling I will have to call out a specialist!

certainly not a boiler to be touching yourself it has had more remedial work than Katie price and you havent a clue what you are checking that hasnt been done that the manu sent out Technical bulletins about

Ive encountered similar "symtoms" as what you have , I'm gonna advise that you carry out a combustion analysis , I hope you have no qualms with that??..so crack on and post back the results....:)

if you got no qualms buying parts for your boiler then why don't you put your hand in your pocket  and get a gas engineer in to sort it properly and
SAFE !!!!!!!!!! i wonder if you have a family :cautious::censored::cautious::( ??? . all that money you spent on parts ( and time ) an engineer would probably been cheaper , time saving (hassle ) and repaired properly . you better watch you don't lose your arms in your pockets :ROFLMAO::rolleyes::cautious:

Thanks that what I was looking for, a little advice, obviously as I'm no boiler engineer I would like to know if a canary in a cage held up to the outlet would be sufficient?! Joke. No, you know as well as I do that's beyond my scope. I'll speak to a boiler man about it, I've done a quick visual inspection of the flue for holing but can't see anything obviously amiss but then again it does turn 90degrees so it potentially could be holed

Thanks for all the feedback,

op , you should know that you can't fault find something if you don't know how a boiler works e.g sequence of operation of which I'm sure you've heard off , get a REPAIR gas engineer and you may find yourself with less stress and more money and time

Thanks, that's the sort of advice I was looking for. I just wanted to exhaust all the easily diagnosable problems before calling someone in. If he arrived and just changed something as simple as the igniter it would feel like a waste of time for him & a hassle for me.

Thanks,
