We need to cut Notch some slack. His life size cardboard cutout of Trump was accidently left out in the rain and is beyond repair. He's ordered a replacement from WeLoveTrump.com but it'll take a week or two to ship, so he's quite understandably not in the best of moods.

Yes I know that but was just picking up on the fact that notchy believes that import tariffs only effect the country that implements the tariffs.
The costs of 'damage' caused to each country by retaliatory tariffs are surely determined by the scale of each countries exports to said country.
About 6% of US exports go to China.
About 16% of Chinese exports go to the US.
The Chinese clearly have more to lose.
The same goes for, Canada, and Mexico.

How do you reach that conclusion?

You say “About 16% of Chinese exports go to the USA” …..but that’s not true, American companies have chosen Chinese suppliers because that’s the cheapest place they can buy from.

For example: In USA you can buy a small skid steer Chinese import for $15,000 or you can buy a USA BobCat for $45,000. Trumps tariffs won’t change that price differential.


If you take American brands made in China like Apple…….where do you think Apple are going to buy them from instead?
