Trump

The 'stolen oil' argument has also been raised several times by Trump over the past few years. It gives a fascinating insight into this regime's world view. They believe that the USA has carte blanche to do whatever it wants in what they call the 'Western Hemisphere'. Of course, the universally accepted legal position is that a country cannot 'steal' its own resources.

Stolen oil ?

Lets see the right wingers explain this.

It wasn't about drugs after all? What a surprise
Why would the orange rapist be concerned about drugs?

After all he has admitted to being a drug addict himself...

Big Pharma is as big a pusher as producers of 'illegal' drugs!

regime change in Venezuela resulting in a democracy and the oil wealth benefitting the people, removing the Mullahs from Iran and giving the Iranians the opportunity of a democracy and restoring their oil wealth to work for the people rather than spending their entire wealth on a futile attempt at destroying Israel
I'm always slightly cautious when we're told something is being done for the benefit of the masses. e.g. in this country, we're told net zero objectives if achieved will result in lower energy costs for all. I'll believe that when I see it.

If what's about to happen in Venezuela (Trump is saying US oil companies will invest billions in the region) does indeed bring significant, tangible and long term benefit to the people born and bred there, that can only be a good thing. It's whether or not it will actually happen to any significant degree that remains to be seen.

Many people are about to get extremely rich through all this, however I remain to be convinced there will be significant trickle down to the Venezuelan masses.

Mmm, on the bold bit... My understanding is that US companies were previously working legally (presumably with extraction licenses), and Chaves 'nationalised' the resources without compo. Hence the 'stolen' rationale. I stand to be corrected on that...

Venezuela took the physical infrastructure and ended the leases on the land. And they owe compensation for that. But the resources themselves always belong to the country.

That's my understanding as well. Largest oil reserves in the world, add a touch of communism, economy collapses, inflation at 170%, lots of unhappy people.

Invading a country because they owe two private companies some money is also illegal.

The US will pay reparations AFTER the orange nonce leaves office. I hope the Dem's lose the next election. It'll take years to clean up the stains the disgusting orange rapist leaves behind.

Normalising the invading of a country and kidnapping its leader (over a couple of tankers of oil), will only embolden other powerful nations. Putin will be pi$$ing himself.

The orange nonce confirming the US to the Neo-Axis coalition, i.e. Russia, China, N. Korea, Israel.

It's a sad day for the Western nations.

Nah...

They'll set up a loan scheme with extortionate rates that the country won't be able to pay off until 50 years later...

That is of course if they give Venezeula the same 'mate's rate' they gave the UK ;)
