I unscrewed my TRV head as my radiator (only the one) failed to heat up when the CH is on. Now it works - the radiator gets hot. why does it actually do this? what was wrong with the head? the little spindle that is visible now the head has been taken off is not stuck down. it seems weird. will i need to buy a new radiator head. the make of the trv is regis.

the top part of the valve is faulty not sensing heat change.
some are liquid some are wax.
just buy a new valve

thank you very much for your quick response.

i take it that the sensor is damaged and when screwed on is pushing the pin down (it thinks the temp is high - and as you say is faulty). i will change the head if i can find a like for like replacement one.

What make is it?

If not a current one then change the complete valve.
