Hello,

1st post on this site so hello to you all.

Im after a little advice, i'm no plumber just a DIYer and have recently replaced a leaking TRV to a kitchen rad, the valve is fitted to the flow pipe (i assume the flow as it heats up 1st), but the rad will not heat up...

Ive attached a photo as i think there is a problem with the TRV, the flow arrows on the valve are either wrong or i dont understand it!!

Could someone just confirm or correct me please, on if its right or wrong.

Thanks in advance.

bit of a mess there?? the PTFE on the threads will do nothing but look silly.

Anyhoo bacck to your question the arrows show the valve is bidirectional (can go on flow or return)

My guess would be
1- its air locked (turn all working rads off does it gurgle and get hot?)
2- you didnt bleed the rad (bleed it)
3- You didnt open the lock shield (valve at other side of rad OPEN IT)
4 - You bought a faulty rad valve or PTFEd it shut.... (unlikely)

Hello, Thanks for the quick response,

As i said i'm no plumber,

1- I'll try that.
2- Rad bled on both panels
3- Lock shield open
4- possibly but i'll try No1 1st, dont think i PTFE'd it shut, tape only on the threads.

I'll go try turning all rads off and see what happens, I'll post back results later.

Thanks for the reply.
